ADIE'S ART PORTFOLIO
I studied Graphic Art at Natal Technikon SA with the aim to become an illustrator. After graduating I went on to work as a designer for 7 years. My studies and experience in the design industry added tremendous value to the years that followed because many of the processes were tactile. Yearning to go back to my pencils and paintbrushes, I took a bold step into teaching adult art classes and building a professional painting career.
My style is expressive, colourful, energetic and spontaneous and, yes, still recognisable. I love the immediacy of mark making and the unpredictability of that approach. It enables me to combine all I have ever learnt about illustration, painting and design. Africa’s wildlife, beauty, ruggedness, textures, smells, sounds and the element of danger, along with the crowded cityscapes of Europe will constantly inspire and be the substance behind what I love best: to paint.
