ADIE'S ART PORTFOLIO
I grew up in a country saturated with light, colour, texture, sounds and smells. Where SA has ancient rock formations and landscapes, Europe’s cities and towns have a backdrop of architecture steeped in history that simply took my breath away and continue to inspire my creations. I feel compelled to record these silent giants that have observed the passing of time, and it is the juxtaposition of these old personalities and busy lives swirling around them, that have influenced my style.
It is expressive, energetic and spontaneous. I love the immediacy of mark making and the unpredictability of that approach. It enables me to combine all I have ever learnt about illustration, painting and design. This is when my heart beats a thousand times a minute ... I am on edge and the adrenalin is flowing. I am hoping to engage the viewer and draw them into the another world.
